What we are going to look at right now is Crime Types. Within Crime Types you can configure what the communication is going to look like between your agency and the public. When we think of a crime type we think of an upper category and then the lower secondary category questions we are going to ask based on that category. For theft, the primary question is did someone take property that belongs to you, and there are secondary questions come loaded in the platform, but any additional secondary questions that need to be asked in order to align specific incident to a statute or a sub-statute can be added to the platform by contacting Ten8Tech.

We are going to look at the crime types for theft. If you want to take this category and have a conversation with the public about it, we are going to leave it checked on. If you do not want to talk to the public about it we are going to check it off and that instantly changes what the platform is going to do on voice, mobile, and web, across all the communication channels by checking this. We are not going to have any kind of theft conversation at this point if this is not turned on. If this is turned on, then we are going to be talking about theft and based on what they say, we are going to do certain things. If we ask them if someone took their property and they say yes, we are going to ask them some secondary questions. If something they were holding was taken from them if they say yes we can determine we are going to transfer them back to Dispatch, or we can actually have them exit the system. We would then give them a notification that says this is not the right platform for you because you are trying to report a felony and this configuration is set for misdemeanor crime and so forth.

It is as simple as basically we are just turning questions on or off, or if we are turning them off, we are going to say we going to skip the question or do different things based on the response. This is for theft. Under here we have statutes that get associated to this conversation and then once you have the statute there we are going to associate different narrative templates to that conversation. We are going to have a template in here that is going to pull in the responses from the citizen and build out a complete narrative for their report.

We will go into the deeper information about each one of these sections in other videos but right now we are just going to go through the high level, what the crime types are. We have Theft, Threats, Fraud, Vandalism, and then the Other category. The Other category is intended for the agency to really use as they see fit. We can add secondary questions and even some additional branches of conversation if you will to this section, and it is really up to the agency to say how they want to use this, and we can configure that for them. There are also incident statements, because we recognize that sometimes someone is going to report a theft but when you look at the actual report it is not a true theft. Sometimes there are elements missing from the threats report or so forth and it does not need to be documented as a crime case, it can just be documented as an incident and this is how we are going to enable that to occur.
